Estuary - Artists in Residence
Trinity Art Studios and K:art join forces once again for a month long residency featuring 4 Chinese artists. Within the group are two painters; Jannie & Victoria Yuanli Yuan, one sculpture; Yuange Sheng, and a digital artist Yucen Liu. The group is curated and organised by Manka & Angel of K:art and held within Trinity Art Gallery during the whole of July 2026.
Estuary Artist Residency.
This project takes the harbour as its central concept, exploring cultural migration and shifting identities in an era of global mobility. London and Shanghai’s coastal cities are respectively located at the Thames Estuary and the Yangtze River Delta. Both cities developed into major world ports at the meeting point of river and sea, shaping global trade routes and cultural exchange in different historical periods.
As global supply chains and patterns of human mobility continue to be reconfigured, the harbour has re-emerged as a powerful metaphor for understanding contemporary world structures. This project adopts the estuary as a philosophical concept — a space where freshwater and seawater meet, continuously mixing and transforming. The residency invites artists to create between these two harbour cities, responding through painting, sculpture and digital media to the harbour as a site where historical routes, logistical networks and cultural memories intersect.
The residency will culminate in a final exhibition presenting the artistic trajectories developed across the two harbour cities - this can be viewed on Monday & Tuesday 27/28th July 12.00 - 4pm on Monday and 12.00 - 7pm on Tuesday.
Art Workshops with Hope Street
Supporting the charity ‘Hope Street’ we are hosting an afternoon of workshops for both children & adults on Sunday 12th July
‘Picture Your Heart’ - children’s workshop 8-15 year olds.
In this workshop we aim to encourage creativity, confidence, self-expression, and imagination through a fun art activity where children discover beauty and inspiration within unexpected shapes and patterns.
Overview: Children will begin by creating a free-flowing drawing while blindfolded and listening to music. Once the blindfolds are removed, they will explore their artwork, identify a section that stands out to them, and transform it into a unique painted masterpiece that they can frame and take home. The workshop concludes with a mini art gallery where children can share and celebrate each other's creativity.
